However, children do think up funny endings to sayings from our own culture. This article was in a newsletter that came to our house today and I just had to share it. I think I'll give the same quote beginnings to my children to see what they come up with.
First Graders Finish Proverbs
1. Don't change horses... until they stop running.
2. It's always darkest... before Daylight Savings Time.
3. You can lead a horse to water but... How?
4. Don't bite the hand that... looks dirty.
5. If you lie down with dogs, you'll... stink in the morning.
6. An idle mind is... the best way to relax.
7. Where there's smoke there's pollution.
8. Happy the bride who... gets all the presents.
9. A penny saved is... not much.
10. Two's company, three's... the Musketeers.
11. Laugh and the whole world laughs
with you, cry and... you have to blow your nose.
12. There are none so blind as... Stevie Wonder.
13. Children should be seen and not... spanked or grounded.
14. When the blind lead the blind... get out of the way.
15. A bird in the hand... is going to poop on you.
Now for something totally unrelated: Did you know that the electric chair was invented by a dentist? That fact was in the same newsletter. Interesting...
